Chinese Embassy in Nigeria Marks the 88th Anniversary of the Founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army

On 30 July 2015, Military, Naval and Air Attaché of the Chinese Embassy in Nigeria Senior Colonel Wang Runxu and his wife hosted a reception at the Chinese Embassy to celebrate the 88th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People's Liberation Army(PLA). Around 350 guests from Nigerian government, military, foreign diplomatic corps, Abuja Defense Attaché Association and Chinese communities attended the reception. Chinese ambassador Mr. Gu Xiaojie as well as all the diplomats of the Chinese Embassy were also present on the festive occasion.

In his remarks, Senior Colonel Wang introduced the outstanding achievements made by the PLA in the development of modernization in recent years, and addressed the PLA’s significant contribution to the regional stability and world peace through participation in UN peacekeeping missions, naval escort missions in the Gulf of Aden and the fight against the Ebola epidemic in some African countries. At the same time, Senior Colonel Wang recalled the development of bilateral relations between China and Nigeria, and the friendly exchanges between the PLA and the Armed Forces of Nigeria .

Representing the Nigerian government and armed forces respectively, Mr. Abdullahi Uman Ganduje, Governor of Kano state and Major General Edward O Nze, representative of Chief of Army Staff spoke highly of the PLA’s great achievements of development and significant contribution to the regional stability and world peace. They expected the bilateral relation and military contacts between the two countries to be strengthened to a new height in the future.
