Gu Xiaojie Met with the Executive Secretary/CEO of National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria

On July 27, Chinese Ambassador Gu Xiaojie met in Abuja with Mr. Bem Angwe, Executive Secretary/CEO of National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria, and exchanged views on the exchanges and cooperation in the field of human rights.

Gu Xiaojie pointed out that, China attaches great importance to the promotion and protection of human rights and give priority to safeguarding the Chinese people’s rights to person and the right of development based on the combination of the universal human rights principle with China’s national conditions. As developing countries, both China and Nigeria face some similar human rights challenges, and should strengthen exchanges and cooperation to promote the development of human rights cause jointly.

Bem Angwe briefly introduced the cause of human rights development in Nigeria, appreciated China's development achievements and remarkable progress in human rights, and expressed the wish of strengthening human rights exchanges and cooperation between the National Human Rights Commission of Nigeria and Chinese competent authorities in the future.
