Gu Xiaojie Met with Governor of Yobe State Ibrahim Gaidam

On July 24, Chinese Ambassador Gu Xiaojie met in Abuja with H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Gaidam, Governor of Yobe State, and exchanged views on bilateral relations and state to province cooperation between China and Nigeria.

Gu Xiaojie congratulated H.E. Mr. Ibrahim Gaidam on his re-election and inauguration, and pointed out that, this year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of China-Nigeria strategic partnership, China attaches great importance to the development of bilateral relations and wishes to further strengthen mutually beneficial cooperation and promote common development between the two countries. Yobe State has rich  natural resources and great potential for development, China looks forward to strengthening exchanges and cooperation with Yobe State. Gu also urged Yobe State Government to take practical measures to guarantee the security of Chinese citizens and companies considering the security challenges in the northeast region of Nigeria.

Ibrahim Gaidam said,the bilateral cooperation between Nigeria and China is not only deep and comprehensive but also mutually beneficial, Yobe State wishes to enhance cooperation with China especially in the fields of agriculture and infrastructure. The state government and other agencies are taking further steps to improve security situation and protect Chinese citizens and companies, and endeavor to create a safe business environment. Gaidam encouraged more Chinese companies to invest and do business in Yobe State.
