Gu Xiaojie Met with Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo

On July 24, Chinese Ambassador Gu Xiaojie met in Abuja with the Vice President of Nigeria Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, and exchanged views on bilateral relations and pragmatic cooperation.

Gu Xiaojie congratulated Osinbajo on his assumption as Vice President of Nigeria and pointed out that China and Nigeria are the biggest developing countries in Asia and Africa respectively, with highly complementary economies and huge potentials of pragmatic cooperation. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Nigeria strategic partnership. China is willing to take this opportunity, together with the new Nigerian government, to deepen comprehensive cooperation of mutual benefit,support the social and economic development of Nigeria in all areas to set a model for China-Africa cooperation, and inject new impetus to the further development of bilateral relations.

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo said that Nigeria and China have enjoyed profound traditional friendship, and China is a valuable partner to Nigeria. The Nigerian side attaches great importance to Nigeria-China relations and welcomes more Chinese investment to promote local manufacturing. Nigeria is willing to join hands with China to push forward cooperative projects with symbolic meaning, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and bring benefits to the peoples of both countries.
