Gu Xiaojie Met with Governor of Ebonyi State Dave Umahi

On July 14, Chinese Ambassador Gu Xiaojie met in Abuja with H.E. Mr. Dave Umahi, newly-elected Governor of Ebonyi State, and exchanged views on bilateral relations and state to province cooperation between China and Nigeria.

Gu Xiaojie congratulated H.E. Mr. Dave Umahi on his election and inauguration, and pointed out that China attaches great importance to the development of China-Nigeria relations and views Nigeria as an important partner. Being a significant part of the bilateral relations, Sino-Nigerian local cooperation is highly complementary and has great potential. Ebonyi State is rich in many different kinds of natural resources. China encourages Chinese provinces and enterprises to strengthen exchanges with the new government of Ebonyi State, and to promote pragmatic cooperation in various fields together.

Dave Umahi introduced his vision for the development planning of Ebonyi State, and said that during his tenure as state governor, he will vigorously develop economy and promote effective employment, and strengthen pragmatic cooperation with China in key areas such as mining, agriculture, food processing, infrastructure, investment, financing and Chinese-teaching.
